Next stage screen project development lab for writers from diverse and
under-represented communities
In 2018, Cinespace ran a screen story development lab for early career writers from Victoria's diverse and under-represented communities, supported by Film Victoria. In 2019, Storylab 2.0 continued to build upon this knowledge, experience and these new relationships.
Participating writers received individual script development sessions from industry developers Charlie Carman and Katherine Fry, to move their screen projects to the next stage, in a collaborative writing hub set up with the support of the Australian Children's Television Foundation. Cinespace also invited emerging diverse, under-represented and CALD screenwriters from Victoria to series of special guest speaker open sessions, with a variety of established writers and industry professionals sharing their wisdom and experiences. These guest speakers included Jo Bell, Dr. Lisa Dethridge, Diana Nguyen, Alan and Jeremy Nguyen and Benjamin Law. Storylab 2.0 participants also had the opporutnity to hear from Film Victoria's Cathy Rodda and Katherine Slattery and TAP's Adrian Chiarella.
Storylab 2.0 was run by Ra Chapman. Our Principal Partner was Film Victoria, through the Early Career Skills Development Program. Venue partner was the Australian Children's Television Foundation.
