POSITIVE IDENTITY AND GENDER EQUITY
DPV Health, Hume Youth Services, Whittlesea Youth Services & Banksia Gardens with Cinespace Inc invite young people aged 16-25 in Hume and Whittlesea to be part of the +Identity/Gender= film making project.
This is an exciting project challenging stereotypes and exploring issues that matter to young people including potential precursors to gender-based violence, and whose themes ultimately promote positive gender identity and gender equity.
You don't need any film making experience, just a passion to tell stories that will create real impact.
You can apply as an individual with your own idea, as a team, or just come along and participate in one of the films.
We welcome people of all backgrounds, cultures and faiths.
What does positive identity and gender equity mean to you?
tweet your thoughts now using the button below, tagged with #identity #gender @dpvhealth @bbcinespace and we can discuss your ideas in our workshop!
The project will run twice - one across Whittlesea and one across Hume.
It's free to participate.
It starts with a two day workshop on filmmaking in the April school holidays, where you'll also participate in discussions about the themes and develop your film idea.
Then, you'll make your film, individually or in small groups, including facilitated group editing sessions after school in Term 2. (You'll shoot your film in your own time, but with support if you need it).
Once the films are created, the films will be showcased to friends, family and the public at Plenty Valley Westfield and Hume Global learning Centre during early June via a screening event. There's also some prizes to be won for the best films.
